Nicolas Ghesquière Makes his Debut at Louis Vuitton

After a season filled with many new beginnings, (Jeremy Scott makes his debut at Moschino, Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley at Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Nicolas Ghesquière today at Louis Vuitton), the newly named Creative Director at Louis Vuitton, honors the past, and looks to the future as, “today is a new day.” Written in the show notes. As we salute to the past, at Marc Jacobs 16 legendary years at the House, Ghesquière leaves us remembering those days with former Runway regulars, Freja Beha, (opening the show, scream!!!!!!! A big excitement for me, especially since the Danish beauty hasn’t made any appearance at Fashion Week since she wasn’t featured in Chanel’s Spring 2012 campaign), and Maggie Rizer. But as we look back at the days when Marc Jacobs took the reigns at Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière leaves excited and ready for what he has in store for us in the future at Louis Vuitton.

Who Doesn’t Remember this Do at Chanel? #tbt

Now who couldn’t remember the heart-shaped hairdo that models sported at Chanel‘s Spring 2010 Haute Couture show. The days when my all-time favorites, like Freja Beha, Sigrid Agren, Anja Rubik, Jac Jagaciak, Frida Gustavsson, and Siri Tollerod were still roaming the runways. But with the pastel colored Haute Couture frocks sported, all I can think is Easter. Especially with the hair. Industry Icons List – The 3 Newest Members

Supermodels: Sasha Pivovarova, Doutzen Kroes, and Freja Beha Erichsen are the three Newest Industry Icons.

Aspiring models everywhere try to make it to become the next big Kate Moss or Gisele, each year. But only a few get to make it, even into coveted Top 50 Models, Industry Icons, The Money Girls, and very few make it into The Supers. has officially changed up their rankings, as they annually do in September and in February. Who made it?

Well a dream for many models someday is to graduate from the Top 50 Models to the Industry Icons, and maybe even someday down the road to The Supers. Well the three new Industry Icons, who are now joining a coveted list of Supermodels including Natalia Voldinova, Coco Rocha, Stella Tenant and Karolina Kurkova. One of which is Victoria’s Secret Angel, and one of my all-time favorite models, Doutzen Kroes. Besides her Victoria’s Secret Angel contract, Kroes just seems to score more and more new contracts daily, one of which was for fronting Emilio Pucci’s Fall 2013 campaign. The second is Sasha Pivovarova, after ending her runway career in 2011, focusing more on her art. And then getting married and having her first child, a daughter in May of 2012. Sasha has definitely deserved a coveted spot as an Industry Icon. Being the face of Prada for many years now, and still having many contracts underway, a la Proenza Schouler and Juicy Couture for Fall, and a Saint Laurent for Resort season. Pivovarova has definitely got it all. But the other newest edition to the Industry Icons really excited me, Freja Beha. I have always been such a Freja Beha fan and I think that she really deserves to be an Industry Icon. With her Maybelline Contract, and many Vogue covers (internationally) underway, Beha has definitely graduated from that runway regular, to a more coveted Supermodel.

Throwback Thrusday – Back to 2005

This week’s Throwback Thursday is a flashback to July of 2005 when Chanel’s Fall 2005 Haute Couture show was presented. It was back in the day when now Supermodels Freja Beha, Natasha Poly, Lindsey Ellingson, and Anja Rubik were just getting their modeling careers started. And Brad Kroneig had long hair!!! And all the models had to walk around in a circle, wearing jackets to cover up their runway look, until they got to their place. Then all the models, (except for the bride), took of their coats and showed off their looks to the people. Everything just looks so different back then for Chanel compared to now. Tell me what you think in the comments.

If you have something you think would be great in being a part of Throwback Thursday, just email me the photo to,, with the subject, Throwback Thursday for your chance for your chance to have that image featured as the Throwback Thursday!

Remember: Images at the most recent can be from 2008.

Next week I will be on vacation and will most likely not have access to wifi, I will try my best to give you guys a Look of the Week, and a Throwback Thrusday picture. I will probably be able to give you a Throwback Thursday posting but just in case. Please be aware of this if I don’t update my blog, or post much next week.

Thank you.

A Chanel Throwback

Before the Chanel runways sent models walking on Crystal, Windmill, Starfish, and Planet dome runways. The models simply walked down the runway looking Chic and Classy the Perfect Chanel, just like at Chanel 2006.
You can watch Chanel’s Full Fall 2006 fashion show, remembering the days before the exotic runways came at Chanel, and when Gemma Ward, Anja Rubik, Vlada Roscalova, Natasha Poly, Freja Beha, Sasha Pivovarova, Natasha Poly, Lily Donaldson, and more filled the runways.
