Guy Laroche Fall 2014

A military inspired coat. An extensively structured black tee goes up a notch with a leather ruffled skirt. A leather trench. A Downtown Abbey inspired coat. Vibrantly printed pleated dress. And a black structured fur dress. For Fall, Guy Laroche Creative Director Marcel Marongiu, gives your favorite 1940s inspired staples, a vibrant modern update.

Guy Laroche Spring 2014

According the Guy Laroche‘s Marcel Marongiu’s show notes, a passion for Science fiction is what drove this Spring 2014 collection. But what really makes this collection appealing is the mixture of textures and, and styles used throughout the collection. Marongiu seems to have this super feminine girl, mixed with a Sports Jock be the theme for his collection. A style, which I really admire, has been a lot throughout Fashion Week, including the memorable lace dress, paired with a blue hoodie, worn over the dress at Rebecca Taylor. But Marongiu does his a little different.

Using more slouchy silhouettes and more long and flowing skirts, Marongiu really gives the looks a more Sporty feel to feminine elements. Marongiu also mixes up the styles, while pairing a hoodie over a feminine and flowing skirt. Unlike Rebecca Taylor, Marongiu doesn’t lace, rather uses many different more Scientific inspired textures. My favorite though: the grey Flapper inspired ruffled gowns.
