Viktor & Rolf Fall 2014

What I noticed at Vikor & Rolf was a lot of structure. As Creative Directors Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoren, give everyday staples a structural zass. When a trench becomes decked out in fringe. Black gemstones embellish a black & grey cardigan. A Classic LBD gets architectural pleats. White sheer pullover gets denim pockets. While a high-low hemlined knit tunic leaves a spectacular contrast, amongst a structured leather pencil skirt.

Effortless Structure at Reed Krakoff

When you compare Reed Krakoff’s Pre-Fall collection, with his Fall collections, you see many similarities. Both collections use animal prints, such as leopard and snakeskin, furs and tweeds as a key fabric, and black & white as the key hues, but unlike Krakoff’s Fall, the Pre-Fall collection lacks one thing: structure. As pencil skirts get embellished in chains. A knit sweater gets fur embellished sleeves. And fabrics of all kinds get layered all together on a strapless gown, creating this such effortless structure.

Structure Meets Elegant Haute Couture

With a Spring 2014 season, dominating the runways with Strutctural and Fresh yet Futuristic silhouettes, it’s no surprise that Haute Couture designer, Tony Ward, is incorporating this contiguous trend into his Spring Haute Couture collection. As Hunger Games and Victoria Beckham Spring 2014 inspired Geometric triangles give any gown pure structure. An outlined triangle adds extra excitement and suspense when it literally pops out in front of you. Ruffles and Peplum give Cocktail dresses and Gowns, a fun yet Elegant twist. And cutouts right below the bodice keep a Sparkling evening gown Modern, yet Elegant.
