Balenciaga Fall 2014 – Your Simple Staples Get a Zest

Whether it’s a raincoat, trench, sweater, or a high-waisted pant. Creative Director, Alexander Wang, gives that eccentric edgy feel at his own line’s collection, back at New York Fashion Week, to the Classic, simple staples seen in every wardrobe. Kanye West makes a camo, front row, while Gisele, Caroline Trentini, and Natasha Poly make notable appearances on the runway.

Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2014 – Once Upon a Time

“Once upon a time in Sicily,” quoted on Dolce & Gabbana’s Instagram, in the Magical forest, came Sasha Luss in an Oxblood embellished cape. Starting a Show, filled with Mystical capes, dresses, and a metallic hood, as if borrowed from a Medieval Time soldier. While one Kasia Struss closes the show, as Little Red Riding Hood. The inspiration for the collection came from none other than Classic Fairytales, as Dolce & Gabbana quoted, “The romantic inhabitants of the enchanted garden.”

A Candy Coated Gucci Fall 2014

Ever since Pre-Fall 2014, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini, has been a more simple route with her collections, leaving just as much a memorable statement as Marc Jacobs’ last Louis Vuitton show back in March. Kicking off Milan Fashion Week, every single a-list model that didn’t seem to make an appearance at New York Fashion Week, (think on the list of: Sigrid Agren, Anja Rubik, Kasia Struss, and Daria Strokous), stormed down the white-out Gucci catwalk, in a candy coated ensemble, and Equestrian boots in a light brown neutral, or Snakeskinned. As trenchcoats and outerwear seem to be the big thing at New York and London Fashion Weeks, they also seemed to make camo at Gucci, in militaristic inspired silohouettes and of course, fur. While outerwear, animal prints, and pastels may seem to be the big thing at Gucci, for the evening wear, Giannini sends out an array of leather cocktail dresses, plastered in silver, metallic chains. Definately the perfect collection for some Simplicity and Classic staples, with a bit of that bold, edgy twist; Purely Chic. A very Mod feel, overall.

Frida Giannini Goes Back to the Basics for Pre-Fall

It’s all about going back to the basics! Which was pretty much the motto throughout Gucci‘s Pre-Fall 2014 collection. In which Creative Director Frida Giannini focuses on sleek daywear staples, giving them an extra dazzle in bright hues such as: Tangerine, Hot Pink, Red, Daffodil, and Shades of Blue. Pairing them with black military inspired hats, similar to the ones sported by Aymeline Valade and Kasia Struss at Louis Vuitton‘s Fall 2011 show; for a more masculine feel. Giannini also incorporates your feminine staples, giving your average pleated dress seen in a Geometric print, while the fur coat gets paired with jeans and a geometric printed top.

Best Dressed at Last Night’s Victoria’s Secret After Party

After all the hype and excitement from Last night’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, then came the after party. Where all the models sported their best and Sexiest party dresses for the night.
My 5 favorites last night were: Kasia Struss, Sigrid Agren, Josephine Skriver, Caroline Brasch Nielson, and Martha Hunt.
As a big fan of Versace‘s Fall 2012 collection, myself, I couldn’t help but just lust over the STUNNING black sequined evening gown, with a slit of course, that Kasia Struss sported. And with that natural, glowing makeup and Sexy Victoria’s Secret waves. What could look any better?
The Society’s Sigrid Agren, Josephine Skriver, and Caroline Brasch Nielson each sported Stunning dresses, each personalizing their style. Making all 3 of them top my Best Dressed list. With Agren wearing a draping pink silk gown, similar to the pieces from Chanel‘s Spring 2010 Haute Couture collection, but more Sexy and modern. While Brasch Nielson sported a more preppy, military inspired white dress, with golden buttons going all the way up to the neck. Very Chic, but not too preppy. And Josephine Skriver sported a Sexy LBD, taking the plunge and showing off a Chic and Sexy peplum. And showing off the glowing Victoria’s Secret waves and makeup, what could make any look look better?
As for Martha Hunt, I Love the lace top with the Balmain skirt with chains, such a great contrast of feminine mixed with edgy. Seen a lot throughout Balmain’s most recent collections.
