Gareth Pugh Spring 2014

I’ve always been very fond of Gareth Pugh‘s ways of making his designs look bold, yet so Beautiful that you just HAVE to Have every piece. Pugh took on a very Lady Gaga like inspiration, but with a more ladylike spin. Using Sparkling fabrics of snakeskin and many Silver hues, Pugh gives his collection kind of an Out of this Galaxy like feel, but very Lady Gaga. The structured silhouettes of the Gowns really give the collection a nice, Chic statement. Who isn’t obsessed with that bold eye makeup?

The trench coats paired with the Sexy leather cocktail dresses, a must have of mine now, really give the collection a more Classy, and Ladylike feel. Reminding of a Classy woman walking down the streets of New York or Paris, but in an effort to make a Chic statement. While the fur headpieces bring a more Gaga feel, the long evening gowns paired with the fur really bring such a Ladylike, very Oscar de la Renta Fall 2013 feel. A Gareth Pugh leather trench and Cocktail dress pick-me-up in February? Yes please!

Rochas Spring 2014

“Underwater love. Sheer, frills, translucency and crystals at Rochas to a subterranean soundtrack from The Cure. Lovely last hurrah from Zanini.” Is what i-D Magazine quoted about Marco Zanini’s, sadly, last Rochas collection, on their Instagram. What I loved most was that the Crystals, Pearls, Pastels, and the frills that really brought such a Glamorous and Romantic vibe to the collection as a whole. A trend seen throughout all the cities at Fashion Week. While the frills made me think of a modern-day Marie Antoinette. As I’m currently reading Joan DeJean’s “The Essence of Style,” about how the French invented Fashion, Chic Cafes, and Gourmet food. The collection gives me reminiscence to the 17th century Fashion, described in, “The Essence of Style,” but with a Modern twist. And how couldn’t be obsessed with those fur pumps?

Guy Laroche Spring 2014

According the Guy Laroche‘s Marcel Marongiu’s show notes, a passion for Science fiction is what drove this Spring 2014 collection. But what really makes this collection appealing is the mixture of textures and, and styles used throughout the collection. Marongiu seems to have this super feminine girl, mixed with a Sports Jock be the theme for his collection. A style, which I really admire, has been a lot throughout Fashion Week, including the memorable lace dress, paired with a blue hoodie, worn over the dress at Rebecca Taylor. But Marongiu does his a little different.

Using more slouchy silhouettes and more long and flowing skirts, Marongiu really gives the looks a more Sporty feel to feminine elements. Marongiu also mixes up the styles, while pairing a hoodie over a feminine and flowing skirt. Unlike Rebecca Taylor, Marongiu doesn’t lace, rather uses many different more Scientific inspired textures. My favorite though: the grey Flapper inspired ruffled gowns.

Dries Van Noten Spring 2014

Guests arrived to a Spectacular setting, with a runway flanked with Golden shutters. Dries Van Noten‘s golden crinkled invitation was just the beginning! And the models definitely lived up to the opulent runway. Gold was the key hue. But besides gold, Van Noten used many rich shades of: Oxblood, Black, and Cream. The many mixed feminine prints, and the delicately embroidered jackets, really give the collection that artsy Bohemian vibe. Van Noten used many mixed textures of: pleats, ruffles, Embrodery, and even transformed fabric into designer’s favorite this season: abstract flowers.
